Yellow Chartreuse is a French herbal liqueur produced by Carthusian monks using a secret recipe of 130 herbs, plants, and flowers, distinct from Green Chartreuse in its grape-based spirit and milder, sweeter profile with flavors of honey, mint, citrus, and saffron. Introduced in 1840, it has a lower alcohol content than the Green version (43% ABV or 86 proof), and its vivid color comes naturally from saffron.
