Clarisse de Suremain comes from a family of Burgundian winegrowers. A former professional pianist and holder of a management diploma, she returned in 2017 to settle in her native Burgundy. It was independently and outside the family that she found her first vines in the lower part of Pommard: Aligoté, Gamay and Pinot Noir to begin with. Her experience at Château de Puligny under the responsibility of David Didon, and at Athénaïs de Béru, led her to become interested in organic farming and biodynamics.
Perhaps the best way to capture how joyous and singular the wine is would be to reference the oxymoronic tasting notes recorded in real time while enjoying some of 'Les Noces:' "Supremely serious fruit, deeper / light-bodied, earthy presence." Who can make something of this? The wine beguiles and mystifies and sails on contradiction - light but heavy, dark but featherweight, blue but red fruit. A real easy-to-drink-hard-to-describe delight of the kind of serious Burgundian complexity this new fangled 'Côteaux Bourguignons' appellation does not intuitively inspire.
